San Diego Padres starting pitcher Fermín suffered a muscular injury during his Tuesday start against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the team announced. Fermín left the game in the fourth inning after experiencing discomfort in his right shoulder.

The Padres have not yet announced the severity of Fermín's injury or how long he is expected to be out, but the right-hander is considered day-to-day for now. Fermín is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts this season.

Padres Rotation Depth Will Be Tested

Fermín's injury is a blow to the Padres' rotation, which is already without Mike Clevinger (Tommy John surgery) and Adrian Morejon (elbow). MacKenzie Gore and Nick Martinez are expected to start the next two games for the Padres, but it is unclear who will take Fermín's spot in the rotation after that.
