Charles Bronson: A Life in Prison

The American Vigilante Star With a Troubled Past

Charles Bronson, the American actor known for his tough-guy vigilante roles, has spent the last 50 years in prison. On June 11, 2023, he appeared before the parole board for the 11th time. Will this be the time he is finally released?

Bronson was born Charles Dennis Buchinsky on November 3, 1921, in Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania. He was the eleventh of 15 children born to Lithuanian immigrants. Bronson's father was a coal miner, and his mother was a homemaker. The family was poor, and Bronson often had to go hungry. He dropped out of school in the eighth grade and worked a variety of odd jobs before joining the Army in 1943.

Bronson served in the Army during World War II, and he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery in combat. After the war, he returned to the United States and worked as a truck driver and a bouncer. In 1951, he married Harriet Tendler, and they had two children together.

In the early 1950s, Bronson began his acting career. He appeared in small roles in several films before landing his breakout role in the 1954 film "Vera Cruz." Bronson went on to star in a number of successful films, including "The Magnificent Seven" (1960), "The Dirty Dozen" (1967), and "Death Wish" (1974).

However, Bronson's personal life was often troubled. He was arrested several times for assault and battery, and he was divorced from his wife in 1965.

In 1972, Bronson was arrested for the murder of his former business partner, Lou Perry. He was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Bronson has maintained his innocence, and he has appealed his conviction several times.

Bronson has been in prison for 50 years. He is now 88 years old and in poor health. He has appeared before the parole board 10 times, and he has been denied parole each time.

The parole board will hold another hearing on June 11, 2023. It is unclear whether Bronson will be granted parole this time. However, his supporters believe that he has served his time and that he deserves to be released.
