Darwin's Early Life

Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England, in 1809. He was the son of a wealthy doctor and had a comfortable upbringing. In 1825, Darwin entered the University of Cambridge to study medicine. However, he quickly lost interest in medicine and spent most of his time studying natural history.

Darwin's Voyage on the Beagle

In 1831, Darwin was invited to join the crew of the HMS Beagle as a naturalist. The Beagle was embarking on a five-year voyage around the world. Darwin eagerly accepted the opportunity and spent the next five years exploring the Galapagos Islands, South America, and other parts of the world. During his voyage, Darwin made detailed observations of the plants and animals he encountered. He also collected numerous specimens for study.
